Essential Marrakech Experiences
Djemaa el-Fna after dark
UNESCO lists the square itself as world heritage — not the buildings, the nightly human theatre. Eat at stall 31 (harira and grilled meats) and tip the gnawa musicians.

Know Before You Go
Insider Tips
- Stay inside the medina in a riad at least two nights — the courtyard calm is the counterweight the souks require.
- Agree taxi fares before getting in, or insist on the meter ("compteur, s'il vous plaît").
- Getting lost in the souks is the point — but drop a pin at your riad and note landmark shops.
- Haggling is expected and good-natured: start around 40% of the first price, smile throughout.
