The Seychelles keeps winning "world's most beautiful beach" polls, and one look explains why: sculpted pink-grey granite boulders framing powder sand and glass-clear turquoise, backed by lush jungle where giant tortoises roam free. This archipelago of 115 islands, cast adrift in the Indian Ocean off East Africa, is the honeymoon dream — but also a Creole culture and a nature reserve of genuine wonder.
It does luxury like almost nowhere (private-island resorts, overwater villas) yet is more accessible than the reputation suggests — the three main islands have guesthouses and public buses, so you can island-hop La Digue by bicycle and Praslin's ancient palm forest without a superyacht. Small, remote and staggeringly beautiful.

Anse Source d'Argent
The beach that launched a thousand screensavers — on La Digue, a stretch of shallow turquoise water threaded between enormous weather-sculpted pink granite boulders, reached through a coconut plantation. Regularly voted the most photographed (and most beautiful) beach on Earth, and worth the hype.
La Digue by bicycle
The dreamiest of the islands moves at the speed of an ox-cart and a pushbike — no cars needed. Cycle between beaches, past Creole plantation houses and vanilla gardens, and swim the boulder-framed coves. The essence of the Seychelles' slow, barefoot magic.
Praslin & the Vallée de Mai
A UNESCO primeval palm forest — a "Garden of Eden" where the giant, suggestively-shaped coco de mer (the world's largest seed) grows and rare black parrots call — plus Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette, two more of the planet's finest beaches. Praslin is the archipelago's green heart.
Giant tortoises & the islands' nature
Aldabra giant tortoises — some over a century old — roam freely on Curieuse and the outer atolls, one of only two places on Earth they survive in the wild. Add snorkelling in the Ste Anne Marine Park, hiking Mahé's jungle interior, and Creole seafood, and the Seychelles is as much reserve as resort.

Calm transitions
Between the trade winds: calm seas, best snorkelling visibility, warm and sunny. The prime windows.
Southeast trades
Cooler, breezier and drier — great for beaches and hiking, choppier for east-coast diving.
Northwest trades
Hotter and wetter with calmer seas on the east — good diving, occasional heavy showers.
Wettest
