El Nido & the Palawan lagoons
Limestone towers rising from water so clear the boats look airborne — the island-hopping tours (A through D; A and C are the classics) thread hidden lagoons and empty beaches. Go further: the Coron shipwrecks or the El Nido–Coron expedition boat, sleeping on deserted islands en route.
Boracay's White Beach
Four kilometres of powder that survived its own fame — the island's rehabilitation closed it to tourists for six months and it came back cleaner, calmer and still absurdly beautiful. Sunset paraw sailing is mandatory; station 3 keeps the budget end mellow.
Bohol's Chocolate Hills & tarsiers
Over a thousand identical grassy mounds turning cocoa-brown each dry season — geology's strangest joke — plus saucer-eyed tarsiers in their sanctuary and the Loboc river's jungle cruise. Pair with Panglao's reefs for the diving.
Banaue's rice terraces
The "stairways to heaven" — two-thousand-year-old terraces carved into Luzon's cordillera by hand, still farmed by the Ifugao. Trek Batad's amphitheatre village and sleep in a homestay; the north is the Philippines most travelers never meet.

Cool dry season
The sweet spot: dry, breezy, seas calm for island hopping. Peak but worth it.
Hot dry season
Hotter but still dry — summer break crowds domestically; whale sharks at their most reliable.
Early wet
