Fire, ice & the loneliest beautiful roads on Earth
Iceland is geology with the lid off: erupting volcanoes, glaciers calving into black lagoons, waterfalls every ten kilometres, and steam rising from the ground like the planet is quietly cooking. Nowhere else feels this young.
Drive the Ring Road in a week (summer) or chase the aurora from a hot tub (winter). Either way, budget hard — Iceland is expensive — and pack for four seasons per day.

Summer
Midnight sun, all roads open, puffins nesting, highland access. Peak everything, including prices.
Early winter
Aurora season begins, autumn colours, fewer tourists, most roads still open.
Deep winter
Ice caves, aurora, blue twilight days. Storms can close roads — build in buffer days.
Thaw
Slushy in-between season: highlands closed, aurora fading, weather chaotic.
