Andorra
Pyrenean ski slopes, duty-free shopping & mountain spa towns
Andorra is a tiny mountain principality wedged high in the Pyrenees between France and Spain — a land of ski resorts, hiking valleys, thermal spas and famously tax-free shopping, ruled jointly (in a quirk of history) by the President of France and a Spanish bishop.
For its size it packs in a lot: the Grandvalira ski area is one of the largest in the Pyrenees, the Caldea spa is Europe's biggest thermal complex, and in summer the high valleys of Ordino and the glacial lakes offer superb, uncrowded walking. Add duty-free prices and Catalan mountain culture, and this micro-nation punches far above its weight.

Don't Miss
The Unmissables

Grandvalira skiing
The largest ski domain in the Pyrenees — over 200km of pistes across linked resorts (Pas de la Casa, Soldeu, El Tarter), with reliable snow, modern lifts and prices well below the Alps. Andorra is the southern Europe ski destination, and this is its crown.

Caldea thermal spa
The largest spa complex in southern Europe — a futuristic glass spire of thermal lagoons, hot tubs, saunas and hammams fed by Andorra's hot springs, with the snowy peaks framed through the windows. The perfect après-ski or post-hike soak.

Ordino & the high valleys
Away from the shopping and slopes, the northern parish of Ordino is Andorra's prettiest — stone villages, Romanesque churches, and trailheads into the Vall de Sorteny nature park and glacial lakes. A UNESCO biosphere reserve and the country's soul.

Andorra la Vella & duty-free
The world's highest capital is really one long shopping street — electronics, alcohol, perfume and ski gear at tax-free prices draw day-trippers from France and Spain. Combine a browse with the old quarter's Casa de la Vall and a mountain-view lunch.
